Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. She covered many notable stories such as arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to various summits while in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
